What are the Effects of Molestation

The Effects of Molestation on Children:
   Behavioral problems:
       Withdrawal
       Seductive or aggressive behavior
       Running away
       Eating disorders
   Depression
   Anxiety
   Confusion about identity
   Nightmares or trouble sleeping
   Loss of trust
   Self-destructive behavior
   Loss of self-esteem

Physical evidence is found in only 5% of cases.
If it is found it may take the form of:

    Injury to the genital area
    Painful urination or defecation
    Sexually transmitted diseases, including AIDS

Often Found in Untreated Adults Molested As Children are:
    Low self-esteem
    Guilt, shame, fear
    Loss of trust
    Difficulty in forming relationships
    Power and control issues
    Poor parenting skills
    Inability to distinguish between sex and affection.     

Self-destructive behavior such as:
       Drug or alcohol abuse
       Eating disorders
       Self-mutilation
       Suicide attempts
       Sexual dysfunction
       Promiscuity,
(due to being taught that this was the way to get attention or this was all you were good for.)
